Conscious Change is an 8 week group program  (2.5 hour sessions with daily practice) designed to help participants cultivating mindful awareness and bringing positive change in their life. It involves attention training practices, cognitive change strategies and hands-on mindfulness exercises/meditations that teaches how to live in the present moment and thrive during emotionally challenging times. It is limited to 10 participants only.


About The program



Mindfulness is our ability to be present with an attitude of kindness and curiosity. This course provides a step-by-step process to bring mindfulness & meditation in your life. From the beginning of the course, the participants are encouraged to get into a daily mindfulness practice (10-15 minutes) by using formal and informal practices. There will be guided meditations and additional resources to assist you over the duration of the course.



During 8 weeks, we will be covering different topics related to life's challenges and how to turn these challenges into opportunities of growth. A detailed outline of the course content is below.

Group therapy process


An important part of this program is the group therapy component, where we use mindful awareness to change our behaviour, in a safe & supportive environment. This process is done through giving honest feedback to group members and disclosure of what has happened in our lives. This is an organic process and participants are in charge of how much they disclose in the group; nothing is forced.

Researchers found that meditators were calmer and happier“Neuroscientists have found that meditators shift their brain activity to different areas of the cortex (...) This mental shift decreases the negative effects of stress, mild depression and anxiety. (...) The researchers found that the meditators showed a pronounced shift in activity to the left frontal lobe. In other words, they were calmer and happier than before.”

A study was performed by the University of Queensland on the 2016 Conscious Change courses to examine the beneficial effects of increased awareness and acceptance in life. The findings of the study showed that participating in the eight-week Conscious Change program generally led to an increase in mindfulness as well as a significant decrease in perceived stress. This shows that efforts to change your relationship with stressful and uncomfortable experiences in your life can be improved by mindfulness practice.



Course Content


Each module focuses on a significant issue related to life’s challenges or potential growth opportunities, and identifies optimal ways to deal with them. This program requires dedication, commitment and practice to cultivate a mindful approach in life. Psychological insight and emotional healing occur over time through regular practice of mindfulness.

Below are the available dates of our 8 week programs in 2018.


 These programs take place every Thursdays, from 6:30pm till 9:00pm, at the Scouts Den, Park Lane, Auchenflower (next to NAB Statium). 


The investment for this course is $475 which includes 8 weekly 2.5 hour sessions in a small group + a 65 page workbook, guided mindfulness meditations you can stream online, and weekly emails with additional resources on mindfulness.

Mindfulness educator and psychotherapist in BrisbaneJon is a registered counsellor and the founder of Conscious Beginnings – Psychotherapy & Mindfulness Education. He works with clients struggling with stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, and self-esteem issues. He is passionate about raising consciousness and helping others to discover meaningful ways to live.


He has been practising meditation and mindfulness for over 10 years and it became an essential part of his daily life. Mindfulness helps him to live in the moment and be fully present with people he works with. He currently lives in Brisbane and runs group and corporate mindfulness trainings in addition to his private practice.


Conscious Beginnings is supporting the University of Queensland (UQ) by offering an opportunity to a selected 2nd year Master of Counselling student to participate in this 8- week course. This program will be co-facilitated by a UQ student, who will be under the supervision of the group facilitator.

Ground Rules


Conscious Change Program is limited to 10 participants.


This is a confidential closed group. It is expected that you will attend all sessions. If there is an urgent matter that might prevent you from attending, please notify the group leader. Please be punctual.


Who is it suitable for?


This program is suitable for anyone who would like to learn about mindfulness, and bring positive change and transformation into their lives. No prior knowledge or experience in mindfulness or meditation is required.




Sessions are 2.5 hours for 8 weeks. There will be group discussions, sharing, feedback, mindfulness exercises and guided meditations.


Refund Policy


A full refund will be given back until one week prior to the start of the Conscious Change program (a processing fee of $50 will be incurred in case of cancellation). After this date, you will be offered the opportunity to participate in one of the future programs.

Conscious Beginnings offers individual counselling and mindfulness training on Skype or over the phone, in the comfort of your home.
